To celebrate Mu‘umu‘u Month, HIE co-founder Meleana opened her home for an intimate muʻumuʻu dinner that perfectly captured the spirit of aloha and togetherness.

I'll always find a reason to get my friends together, especially one where we can wear muʻumuʻu. So, a group of my close friends—each donning their favorite muʻu—came together to celebrate both friendship and this beloved Hawaiian tradition.

I selected a collection of my most treasured muʻumuʻu (all by Native Hawaiian designers) to display and for fun wardrobe changes!

While muʻu was the centerpiece of the occasion, the house—as always—was filled with beautiful arrangements by our friend Andrew Mau of ISLAND-BOY, and my favorite color ti leaf clippings and anthuriums.

Homemade liliko‘i gin fizzes were served in my collected drinkware, including my beloved Manuheali‘i glasses.

Monkeypod plates and bowls collected from our tūtūs were filled with curry toppings, and pipikaula and poi made the table feel like one we grew up with. A pineapple upside-down cake sweetened things up.

These are the moments we treasure—good food, great company, and the simple joy of coming together in aloha.

Special thanks to IJfke Ridgley for photographing the fun!
